Homefields Care Farm is alive with butterflies, and we need your help to count them. Join us for a fun-filled, family friendly day to celebrate butterflies.
Participants will receive a butterfly guide and will join members of the Lancaster Butterfly Club in a walk of the farm property to identify and record all butterfly species found on the farm as part of the National Butterfly count. In addition to counting butterflies, the farm will be a literal hive of activity. In addition to the butterfly count there will be snacks and activities for kids and workshops on butterfly gardening where experts will teach how to create your own butterfly garden.
Participants can also assist in installing a new butterfly garden at Homefields farm. Learn about the natural history of butterflies and their amazing life cycle and behaviors, from butterfly experts who will be happy to answer all your questions. And be sure to take some time to enjoy butterfly-themed snacks while local artist Carol Welsh demonstrates techniques for creating watercolor paintings of butterflies. We hope you can join us and the butterflies at Homefields Care Farm.
Cost: $15 per person or $30 per family; includes materials and access to all activities.
