Beginner Friendly Alignment Yoga

This class is well-suited for those who are new to yoga, as well yogis who are interested in learning more about an alignment based practice. The class will be offered most Sundays through the end of September and is relatively gentle in nature, but cues will be offered for those seeking a deeper variation and more core engagement. 

Maggie Mowery is a certified Alignment Yoga instructor, as well as a certified Hatha Yogas instructor. She has been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching since 2017. Maggie is particularly proud of the fact that she is a certified Alignment Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Sanctuary School.

Homefields Care Farm Planting Party #2

Join us for a planting party, no experience needed! Children are always welcome but must be supervised.

Come get your hands dirty helping us tuck baby plants into their forever homes in the ground. Bring your own gloves, hat and water bottle. Water and light snacks will be provided.

Please note that masks and social distancing are required.

The Ecology and Management of the Eastern Bluebird

This is a hands-on course of information about bluebirds that provides practical information and knowledge plus proven techniques to be successful with "the blues" in your area.

• How to attract bluebirds • Building and installing a nest box and habitat they prefer • Monitoring techniques • Protecting them from predators including house sparrows (their biggest enemy) • How to set up a bluebird trail. 

Dr. Dean C. Rust, DDS, has been president of The Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania since 2014. He monitors 20 bluebird trails in Lancaster, York, Dauphin, and Chester Counties, and maintains approximately 400 nest boxes which raise 750–850 bluebirds each summer. He is author of The Beloved and Charismatic Bluebird.

Native Garden Design and Build Workshop

Gain the basic native garden skills and hands-on experience of converting a section of lawn into viable habitat to support critical wildlife species. The first half of this workshop will explore the fundamentals of ecological site prep and plant placement, based on the plant species’ sociabilities. The remainder will be a hands-on installation of the group’s crafted native garden design.

Participants will be given free native landscape plugs. 

Elyse Jurgen, owner of Waxwing EcoWorks Co., is a community collaborator working to rebuild ecological literacy and biodiversity through hands-on ecological gardening experiences in South Central PA. Elyse works alongside homeowners in a participatory approach to their gardening for wildlife needs, infusing educational opportunities during the design, installation, and management process.
